It won’t come as any surprise to those who have been lucky enough to visit, travel, or live on the iconic northern landmass of Japan, but Lonely Planet have named Hokkaido as the official “Best in Asia 2016”!
In the inaugural competition of its name, Hokkaido was crowned despite such fierce and renowned pretenders to the throne including Shanghai, Hong Kong, the tropical islands of Thailand and Indonesia.
Lauded for not only its extraordinary snow and winter season, Lonely Planet cast a spotlight upon the northern island’s friendly population, delicious food, and exquisite green seasons–where the natural beauty of Hokkaido is generously spread across a multitude of incredible mountainscapes, verdant national parks, volcanic coastlines, and teeming wetlands.
